Official Rules

The Point Structure

1. Welcome

Welcome to the 2026 America's Ultimate Long Distance Rider motorcycle challenge! This is a self-guided, Grand Tour style of challenge where you can ride anytime and at your own pace from Jan 1st thru Dec 31st.

Yes, it's FREE!! This is a very loosely run challenge dependent upon "Peanut Gallery" inputs. Also remember: it’s a friendly competition, so lighten up Francis!

2. 2026 Point Categories

For 2026 there are 15 "categories" of points to earn in every state and Canadian Province. Collect all 15 points in a State/Province to earn a 2-point bonus for completing and “closing out” each state.

(Exception: State close-out bonus not applicable to Canadian Provinces)

  1. Tour of Honor
  2. 9/11 Memorial
  3. Abandoned Drive-in Movie Theater
  4. AULDR Sticker posted on a COUNTY sign
  5. Scenic Byways (use scenicbyways.info)
  6. Patriotic Mural
  7. Antique Farm Equipment
  8. RTExUSA Location (rte-x-usa.com)
  9. Roadside America (roadsideamerica.com)
  10. State Park
  11. Brick Church
  12. Animal Statue
  13. Static Fixed-wing Aircraft
  14. Friday Night Lights
  15. Rider Choice

3. Categories Explained

  • US States and Canadian Provinces: Are in play.
  • Tour of Honor: 1 of the 7 ‘state’ sites; follow the specific rules at tourofhonor.com but you do not need to officially join. (Runs 1 Apr - 31 Oct).
  • 9/11 Memorial: Any memorial site commemorating 9/11; mural, WTC steel, plaque, etc.
  • Abandoned Drive-in Theater: Non-operational and not open for showing movies!
  • AULDR Sticker: New locations this year… any COUNTY sign.
  • Scenic Byways: 2 pics are required. Take a screenshot of the route from the website and post it along with a screenshot of your track of the ride. You MUST SHOW that you rode the entire route! (Use REVER, Spotwalla, etc.).
  • Patriotic Mural: We’ll be generous… any patriotic mural of your choice.
  • Antique Farm Equipment: Yard art, abandoned, rusted out, old and on display, etc.
  • RTExUSA: Always a fan favorite and you really should play along.
  • Roadside America: 2 pics required. Screenshot from the website of the object you're claiming + a pic of the object with your bike.
  • State Park: Any state park entrance sign.
  • Brick Church: Any brick or stone church; no… not some metal building!
  • Animal Statue: Must be larger than your bike; Park strategically and prove it!
  • Static Fixed Wing Aircraft: Military aircraft on display, but no helicopters.
  • Friday Night Lights: Any High School football field; the smaller better.
  • Rider Choice: Choose a category of whatever you want and use it for every state.

4. Scoring

  • To Start: Post a picture of your starting odometer miles for the year.
  • Photos: Take a picture of the designated POI with your motorcycle. If not possible, get the bike as close as possible and take a second selfie at the site. Partial bike pics allowed if you are sitting on the moto.
  • Posting: Post pictures of each day's ride in one post (within reason). Posts must contain the date you rode, Month to Date (MTD), and Year to Date (YTD) points.
  • Home Base Rule: You must ride from a home base. No trailering to a snowbird home or ride-and-fly.
    • Exception: If riding a BDR route, you may transport your bike to start/finish. (You get miles + 10 points for BDR, but no other category points).
    • General Trailer/Fly Rule: Mileage counts, IBA rides count for points, but NO AULDR POI points can be claimed.
